What is Somatic Softies? Practically, it’s All Bodies Welcome Yoga’s membership community - complete with unlimited live online yoga, members only workshops, and hundreds of on demand yoga videos. It’s also the healing, wondrous, and powerful experience of becoming more aligned in body, mind, and energy. Somatic Softies is your portal to unlocking your individual body’s inherent wisdom, and learning to interpret body messages. You’re invited to a judgement free experience of the self, in all it’s facets, that reveals liberation informed by joy. Together in this space, we explore!
We hear about our “not enoughs” all the time - through self comparison, through the multi-billion dollar weight loss / fitness / beauty industry, through lifetimes of shame and pressure. There are a lot of yoga studios you could subscribe to that are full of high pressure, “aspirational” approaches to movement that leave you feeling unsupported and less than. Maybe you’ve been to a yoga class where the teacher wasn’t equipped to offer you variations for your body or abilities, and you felt overlooked or embarrassed. Or maybe the possibility of going to a yoga studio and feeling judged or out of place has kept you from trying yoga at all.
A bad prior experience in a yoga class is not a failing on you - it’s a failing on the provider. You ARE enough, just as you are. Yoga is not about perfection, comparison, or acrobatics. Yoga is meant to be an integrative experience that helps us view ourselves more clearly - as whole, enough, and nourished. If you’re worried about mobility, chronic conditions, or pain affecting your yoga practice, know that Emily has over one thousand hours of training as a yoga therapist and teacher - and she’s always learning more! Every time you register for a class, you can let Emily know how you’ll be practicing - on the floor, in a chair, standing or not standing - and she will offer adaptive and accessible options for you - and everyone else! It’s Emily’s number one goal that she can provide an equitable yoga class across a wide range of physical abilities. Her therapeutic approach to yoga is very different than “yoga as exercise” fitness classes. Expect lots of relaxing, gentle movement, opportunities to explore challenge and intensity on your terms, and yogic modalities such as breath work, self massage, and meditation woven seamlessly into the class experience.

Hey, this is Emily. Come closer, I have a secret… I don’t do a physical yoga practice every day. Mainstream culture has made yoga synonymous with physical movement (called asana in Sanskrit), but in reality you don’t need a mat, expensive leggings, or an hour a day to “practice yoga.” An advanced yoga practice is one that is adaptable and responsive to your present moment, and works with the time and energy available. In Somatic Softies you’ll learn integrative skills rooted in Yogic philosophy and Ayurvedic wisdom, not modern fitness culture.

Camera on or off, up to you! Many people choose to have camera off. Because Emily focuses on accessible movement, she does not need to observe your posture or position for you to practice safely.
